- Step 1 Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Combine flour, sugar and milk powder in a bowl. Make a well in centre. Add butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir to combine.
- Step 2 Roll level tablespoons mixture into balls. Place balls, 5cm apart, on prepared trays. Flatten balls slightly. Press on Smarties.
- Step 3 Bake for 8 to 9 minutes, swapping trays halfway through cooking, or until just golden. Stand on trays for 1 minute. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining mixture to make 56 cookies.
